For the fifth time, Association LATGA, uniting 7,500 authors from various creative fields, invites Vilnius residents and city guests who are interested in the arts not only to watch but also to participate in the 8-hour interactive experiential event “LATGA Authors’ Home: Culture Night 2026”, which will take place at Vingriai Square in Vilnius. During “Culture Night” the unique multi-storey stage-house will once again host cinema, photography and drawing studios, exhibitions, creative workshops, music, theatre and dance performances, as well as other artistic works.
According to LATGA Director Laura Baškevičienė, this year’s “Culture Night” slogan, “Travel to Another World”, perfectly reflects the atmosphere that fills the “LATGA Authors’ Home” every year: “Here, visitors can not only feel the true spirit of creativity but also meet today’s authors up close – the people who often remain ‘behind the scenes’, even though they are the ones creating our culture.”
Music and Dance
The event will feature musical performances by “Happyendless”, “Colours of Bubbles”, “Ir visa tai kas yra gražu yra gražu”, Gamka, Liutauras Janušaitis, Mindaugas Urbaitis, Marija Paškevičiūtė and others.
Audiences passionate about dance will be delighted by two outstanding contemporary dance theatres – “Šeiko Dance Company” and dance theatre “Aura”. “Šeiko Dance Company” will present an excerpt from its performance “Islands”, while dance theatre “Aura” will showcase part of its production “Deleted Doors”. In addition, director and performance artist Barbora Skaburskė will present the contemporary dance performance “Bu(i)tis”.
Visual Arts
Performance art will also be represented by renowned Klaipėda-based artist Benas Šarka, who is preparing a special performance. Artist Evelina Simanavičiūtė will invite audiences to participate in the performance “The Dispositivity of Chance”.
The visual arts programme will feature painter Šarūnas Matijošaitis, who will interpret the works of composer Emilija Karosaitė in his paintings. Artist Lukas Jakimavičius will host creative workshops teaching participants how to create stained glass artworks. Mindaugas Meškauskas will present a photography exhibition and introduce visitors to historical photography techniques. There will also be a photography studio by a well-known artist Tadas Kazakevičius.
Cinema and Literature
The stage-house will also offer plenty for cinema lovers. In the virtual reality cinema, visitors will be able to watch two VR films – “I Am Lithuania 2” (dir. Donatas Ulvydas) and “Play Life”, which invites you into the vibrant world of Algis Krisciunas’ paintings. In addition, Lithuanian film programmes curated by the short film agency “Lithuanian Shorts” will be screened at the beginning and end of the event. The Lithuanian Filmmakers Union will invite visitors to briefly become actors themselves by participating in a live casting session.
Literature has not been forgotten either – the house will feature the “Poets’ Corner”, curated by the Lithuanian Publishers Association, where well-known poets will create poems based on ideas suggested by the audience. Live poetry readings organised by the publishing house “Baziliskas” will also take place.
The event organisers inform that photography and filming will take place at the LATGA Authors’ Home. In addition, visitors wishing to enter the Authors’ Home will be required to follow certain safety rules – no pushing or running, no leaning on safety railings, and walking only within specially marked areas. The organisers ask visitors not to enter the stage-house, or to leave it immediately, in the event of lightning or wind gusts exceeding 18 m/s. Entry to the house-shaped stage will be permitted only to visitors aged sixteen and over. Women are advised not to wear high heels.
The schedule with performance times will be published on the website https://www.latga.lt/
