Mine (destroyed slowly and secretly)

In 2025, Ukraine will surpass all other countries that have been leaders in landmines (Cambodia, Afghanistan, Egypt). It is expected that the processes of demining the territories of this state will last for decades, and perhaps continue until the next century. Deployed during the war, but active even after its end, anti-personnel mines become part of the landscape.

The exhibition consists of the artist’s two latest video works: Aruodas Hauntology (2024) and Mine (2025). Both works arise from a play on the term invasive: from the invasive gaze observing other people’s homes on a real estate portal to the feeling of a military invasion. In this case, the widespread phenomenon of landmines becomes a means of talking about memory, resources, and time.
