The Lithuanian Language Institute’s interactive educational activity “Touch the Lithuanian language with your hands” presents the most important achievements in Lithuanian studies and linguistics in a playful manner, educates on the history of the Lithuanian language, encourages taking pride in the Lithuanian language, uncovers the uniqueness of the Lithuanian language and presents its’ place in the global context, introduces our language to foreigners. During the educational activity, unique, interactive exhibits are used – specialised language toys, allowing everyone to touch the language with their hands and feel its uniqueness for themselves, and participants will have the opportunity to see how the Lithuanian language looks in the context of the diversity of Indo-European languages, learn the equivalents of Lithuanian words in other languages of the world, find out what words Lithuanians have borrowed from other languages, get acquainted with the origin of the selected words, the cultural development and history of the nation.
This mobile exhibition is increasingly traveling outside Lithuania. It has already visited many different foreign cities (Stockholm, London, Dublin, Tokyo, Berlin, Luxembourg, Brussels, Cairo, Abu Dhabi, etc.). Interactive toys and their stories still interest both school-age children and adults.
